Mental Health Day

Life can sometimes become too overwhelming, in many ways for many different people. As it is Mental Health Day, we thought we would share some ways that you can make yourself feel that little bit better and improve your mental health.

This is the main one I have heard people talk about, that it really helps them to keep a healthy mentality. Exercise is a great way to make yourself feel that little bit better. When exercising, your body releases serotonin and dopamine, feel good hormones. This will make you feel instantly better. It is also a good way to focus on some small goals and to take your mind off everyday stress. You could go out for a walk, do some yoga, join the gym, or even find a new sport that you really enjoy.

One of our favourite ways to keep our mental health in check is to pend some time reading. This is a great way to escape reality and to dive into a different world. Buy a new book or read an old favourite! It is a great way to relax and to learn some new things along the way.

If you find that you constantly have thoughts going round your head, journaling could be a great thing for you to do. Write down your thoughts for that day; things that have happened, things that you’re angry about or even things that have put a smile on your face. This will get everything out of your head, and you will have a much clearer mindset. It will also help you to notice the positive things that have happened throughout the day.

Soak in the Bath

By far one of our favourite things to do. Take some time to yourself to have a nice relaxing soak in the bath. Add some of your favourite bombs or salts or even some candles to make it even more relaxing. We also suggest reading a book.

Friends and Family

Make sure to regularly spend time with those you love. Catch up with an old friend that you haven’t seen in a while or take your parents out for some lunch. Spending time with people you love will help to improve your mood and make you feel happy.
