Self Care

Benefits of honey

Self-care is more important now than ever. No one wants to spend loads on expensive beauty products so here are the benefits of using honey on your skin.

Honey has organic acid as an ingredient which accelerates the shedding of dead skin cells. This is just like a face scrub but without having to do any scrubbing yourself, let the honey do its work! The dead skin cells that stick to your skin makes it look dull and patchy. By using honey as a face mask it makes your skin look brighter.

Face acne and eczema

Honey has anti-bacterial effects. The healthy bacteria in the honey will activate your immune system, reducing inflammation and redness in the skin caused by acne and eczema. It also helps to clear blockages and pores helping to clear up the face and prevent damage of acne.  A honey face mask is a perfect solution for this. We recommend our ‘That’s what you called stung’ face mask from the anatomicals range.

A lot of moisturising lotions already contain honey as an ingredient. This is because it is hygroscopic meaning it absorbs water from the environment. It takes the water from the environment, and when applied to your face it will transfer and leave your skin moisturised. However, as it takes moisture from its environment, it should not be used alone as it can make your skin dry. We recommend mixing it with coconut oil.

Antioxidants are substances that can prevent or slow damage to cells. Honey contains natural antioxidants which when applied to the skin, can help control fine lines and wrinkles. It will also make the skin look brighter and smoother after removing dead skin cells.

Honey has been used to prevent and treat sunburn. It reduces inflammation and nourishes damaged tissue which helps to heal the burn. It can also be made into a tanning lotion by mixing it with aloe vera.
